October is National Arts and Humanities Month

Folsom Arts and Cultural Commission invites all residents to join in this month’s celebration of the arts. Our fall Activity Guide includes a wide range of dance and fine arts classes for all ages. Most of these programs take place at the Folsom Art Center, located at 48 Natoma Street. The Center is also home to The Gallery at 48 Natoma, featuring Camille VandenBerge’s “Kid in the Candy Store” ceramic sculpture exhibit through November 2.

Other events celebrating Arts and Humanities month include dance performances, concerts, art demonstrations, facility tours, and more.

Gallery Hours: Mon-Fri, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM and Tue-Wed evenings, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

FAA members are showing their ART at the Sutter Street Artist Gallery located inside the Bag Lady Boutique in old Folsom. Stop by the boutique and enjoy handbags, clothes, accessories and ART!

The gallery hosts an Artists Reception every first Friday of each monthStop by and meet October’s Featured Artists Erick Ortega and Inga King on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Gallery at 48 Natoma

The Gallery at 48 Natoma in Folsom is excited to announce the next exhibit, Kid in the Candy Store, featuring sculptures by Camille VandenBerge. The exhibit opens Friday, September 8, 2017.

The exhibit will highlight Camille’s new sculptures and will include selected pieces from some of the legendary artists, Peter VandenBerge, David Gilhooly, Robert Arneson, Clayton Bailey, Maya Peebles and others. As a little girl, Camille VandenBerge often accompanied her famous father to the gallery and later became an acclaimed artist on her own. 

As a special feature to accompany this exhibit, the gallery arranged for Peter VandenBerge, to teach a special two-week ceramic workshop to the students in the Advanced Ceramics classes at Vista Del Lago High School in Folsom. The work created in this unique class is on display in the adjacent Community Gallery.

Opening Reception Friday, September 8th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with refreshments, wine, and live music. Kid in the Candy Store run through November 2, 2017.

Printmaking Open Studio at the Folsom Art Center at 48 Natoma * every Tuesday from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. This new open studio is for artists age 18+ with previous printmaking and printing press experience. Bring your own supplies and enjoy working on your craft and sharing ideas with other artists. The open studio takes place every Tuesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the 48 Natoma Art Center; drop-in fee is $10/day.

Painting Open Studio at the Folsom Art Center at 48 Natoma * every Wednesday from 9:00 am to 12 noon * or * Friday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Why paint alone. Join us for open studio – all levels welcome.  Drop in fee is $10/day. For FAA Members, the fee is $5/day.
