Centerpiece by Susan Hogg

Susan Hogg * Featured Artist at Granite Bay Library
June 5 – July 9, 2013

My works are still life and landscapes. I enjoy the outdoors, so plein air painting is a natural fit. I began my journey with Randy Blasquez and I continue to grow as I study with Susan Sarback at School of Light and Color. I periodically take workshops from other impressionist artists including Victoria Brooks and Kit Knight.

BIG IRON 2013 Gallery Exhibit by Sue Ballengar

Sue Ballengar “BIG IRON” Paintings and Drawings” * Opens April 10 through May 4, 2013 at 21TEN Gallery in Sacramento.

Susan paints and draws old rusty engines and farm equipment by getting up close to the machines, creating designs with a shallow depth of field that verge on the abstract. The energy in these works comes from the light dancing across the subject — creating dynamic lights and dark — and is what most intrigues the artist. Sue finds her subjects on farms all around the Sacramento area. Many of her works depicting marine machinery are from along the coast of Maine and Massachusetts.
