Talk about something compact for travel and that will allow you do some very snappy ink/watercolor wash-style sketching … this is it! David Lobenberg first introduced this technique in 2006 with an article he wrote for American Artist Magazine.

All you need is a Sharpie and Tombow pen, a plastic waterbrush, and an inexpensive watercolor sketch pad. You’re good to go. Stuff everything in a purse or a zip lock plastic bag, and you are set to sketch at home, in town, or around the world! You may also want to add a mini watercolor palette to your on-the-go kit for color washes.
