Each year, funds are set aside to support our community’s children and to sponsor events in the area. Funds are from the art workshops sponsored by the Folsom Arts Association. The following has been approved by the Board of Directors…
$1,900 was donated to Folsom High School for 10 graduating students who are unable to afford the following: school year book $850, cap and gown $500, and Sober Grad Night $550.
$1,500 was donated to the Guardian Scholars Program at Sacramento State University. The money will used as part of the emergency funds for young adults coming out of the foster care program. The funds will support those in need for school, living expenses, dental help, etc.–things that come up unexpectedly.

Miscellaneous funds will support the ongoing after school Stars Program at Theodore Judah Elementary School. For the past two years, 12 FAA members have volunteered for the art classes; the funds are used to buy supplies. This year, the Board approved additional monies to cover the fingerprinting cost for the volunteers–a requirement for the program.
Last year, the FAA donated $500 to the back-to-school backpack program and $1,000 to the new Performing Arts Center, Three Stages at Folsom Lake College. The Board also approved buying 2 Smart Boards ($2,200 each) for furthering the education of children at two of Folsom’s Elementary Schools–Blanche Sprentz and Theodore Judah–where volunteers have come to know the needs of the schools.
One a side note, Sacramento State University has a mentoring program for the young adults coming out of the foster care at the age of 18. I plan to sign up for this. For anyone interested, let me know and I will give you the name and number of the contact person.
