Kevin Mount

Chalk it Up with Kevin MountMy name is Kevin Mount, and I am 21 years old. On July 28, 2015, I was honored to have a segment at Channel 6, KVIE, Arts Showcase, for which I am immensely thankful. On May 23, 2016, I was presented with the “Art of Autism’s Hearts & Arts” award, another event that I am honored and grateful for (see details below).

At the age of five, I was diagnosed with high functioning autism, and that may be the reason I am so focused on what I like. I love to paint. I don’t have an academic background – what I do comes from my heart and I developed my own techniques of watercolor with small amounts of water and small brushes.

I became interested in art at the age of three. I drew simple animated characters, and by the age of seven, my framed artwork started to be noticed. At the age of ten, I created a mono-print of a cat’s face that later won a first prize in the Crocker Art High School competition (May 2011). In that summer, I also had a solo exhibit in the Crocker Art Museum. Later in the same year, I won the Sacramento Fine Art Center’s Judge Award with an original representation of Picasso’s “Guernica.” In addition, I also won a second place award at the California State Fair with a watercolor of my backyard lemon tree.

In November of 2012, I exhibited my artwork at the Rancho Cucamonga Art Museum.

My paintings of abstract flowers are also in a permanent exhibit in the Uplands Art Museum in Southern California.

I have donated many of my art pieces to the community over the years to help other children with medical needs.

Currently, my art is on display at the Sutter Street Artists Gallery, located inside The Bag Lady Boutique in Folsom.

In January 2016, I will have a solo exhibit at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center in Carmichael.

In July 2015, I was featured on KVIE Arts Showcase:
