Phyllis Rapp – Art Demo

Join us on Tuesday, November 20, for Phyllis Rapp’s art demo – watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media paintings focusing on design, texture, color and patterns.

In 1991, Phyllis moved to Healdsburg, California with her husband and 3-year-old son. Phyllis was active in many art organizations, galleries and taught watercolor classes. In 2007, when their youngest set out for college, they decided to sell their house, buy a 53 ft sailboat and find adventure. During that time, not only did they experience great adventures, but also they visited many exciting countries and made some very interesting friends.

Phyllis painted frequently on the boat. Many of her paintings were of distant shores and the people and animals they encountered. Phyllis loved painting during that time because she didn’t have to paint for a gallery or a demonstration; she  could relax and paint for herself. To her surprise, Phyllis’ painting skills improved because of this freedom. In 2010, they stopped sailing and reestablished their connections in Healdsburg.

Most of Phyllis’ paintings are about ‘pattern’. She loves design, color, texture, and tries to incorporate these in her paintings, along with her love of traveling and foreign cultures.
